Coach Introduction for First-Day M28 Session
by Patrick Flynn
One of the principles of M28 is long-term thinking, praying that, down the road, each student will become a disciple-maker. Coming into the study as teacher rather than coach, can get in the way of that goal, because our students tend to take a passive, academic approach, rather than thinking about the Bible as a message that is for them. However it is sometimes helpful for the coach to give a short introduction during the first session. Below is the introduction I often use (some ideas taken from Voddie Baucham as well as ISI materials). Feel free to borrow some of this or create your own introduction to fit your group. I do not recommend reading it to your students; instead, speak from your heart.

Science and Faith Book
If your student is Chinese, I recommend gifting them this book. It is relatively short, so if you want to, you can read the English version first before giving them their copy.

Science and Faith Original Chinese Version
"Only use this tool if the need arises"
Here's a common question: "Won’t students go looking for more details on the passage or answers to their questions online? How do we assure they aren’t reading heresy?" We do need to be prepared for this to happen. You may want to suggest your favorite online commentary for them to investigate further during the week. www.easyenglish.info/bible-commentaries is a good option--these Bible Commentaries are easy to read and understand.
